Favourites FOUR

Welcome to day Four of my favourites. Today I have something that is very new to Stampin' Up! and it will help everyone out with the projects whether they are cards, scrapbook pages or anything that uses colour.

It is the Colour Coach.

This is such a handy tool to have. It starts off with cards containing all the principal's of colour. It has the colour wheel as well which is always handy to have close by. Then there is a card for every Stampin' Up! colour. On the reverse of the colour cards are the colour scheme's.

 Every card gives you two different colour scheme's and believe me, some of the scheme's you would not have thought to put together, but they really work. It is such a handy tool and makes life easy when you can't work out what colour should go with what. It also helps with choosing what cardstock to purchase. All in all this is such a handy tool to have...even if you don't use Stampin' Up cardstock, the colours and colour scheme's will still help you pick colours for you layouts or cards.

JAI Challenge #38

I love the Just Add Ink Website...it is always full of great inspiration and I love participating in the challenges too, its always lots of fun. So to interupt my Top 10 Favourites for a minute, I wanted to show you my entry into the JAI Challenge #38 this week.

Just Add Ink is supporting The Cancer Council's national Pink Ribbon Day which is coming up on October 25th. Events held for this day aims to help raise awareness about breast cancer, as well as raise funds towards research, education and patient support programs. This is something very close to my heart so of course I had to participate this week!

This weeks challenge is based around all things feminine, beautiful and proud!

JUST ADD BLING ... and PINK!

 

 

I've used the Always Elegant Stamp Set as well as Tiny Tags. The colours I've used are the new In Colour, Blushing Bride teemed with Certainly Celery and Early Espresso and of course the wonderful Stampin' Up! Rhinestones.

Favourites THREE

Well I couldn't do a favourites list without something to do with Christmas...after all it is my absolute favourite time of year.  So my favourite today is the "Contempo Christmas" Stamp set.

This is a very affordable stamp set, offering versatility even though it only has 4 stamps. You get the two picure stamps and two sayings (Merry Christmas and Christmas is Love with All the Trimmings). The tree stamp is lovely and looks great with some Rhinestones added to it. The Ornament is great too and there is also a matching Ornament punch.

I was really happy with how this card turned out. It is definitely very simple, but I think it is effective. The Rhinestones give it a bit of extra bling!

Favourites TWO

Welcome to day TWO of my favourites.

A bit of bling! We all know that Rhinestones and pearls are very "in" right now in the papercraft world and the Stampin' Up! Jewels are superb!

Half-back rhinestones and pearls add sparkle and elegance to stamped images, patterned paper, flowers and more! Adhesive on the back makes them easy to adhere. Rhinestones and pearls include 150 pieces: 50 ea. in 3 sizes.  Plus, each package contains three 6.7 cm strips of connected 3 mm rhinestones or
pearls, just right for borders.
 

As you can see with this card I have made, the Pearls add that extra bit of elegance to the card. The card is made using the lovely "Always Elegant" stamp set along with cardstock in the new colour Cherry Cobbler. I've also added the new Black satin ribbon which I have to say is just divine and definitely adds a touch of class to the card! This card was inspired by a card made by the very talented Amanda.

The Jewels are on page 140 of the catalogue and are very affordable at only $9.50 for a pack. Rhinestones are item #119246 and Pearls are item #119247.

Favourites ONE

Welcome to the first item in My Favourite things from the 2010-2011.  I was planning on doing the items in some sort of ranking i.e. 1 being my absolute favourite, however, I just couldn't rank them. So it is just my favourite 10 things in no particular order!! In saying that, this first item would have to be definitely up there as my absolute favourite!  The very cool Two Step Owl Punch....

There is just so much you can do with this punch. the little owl is just so, so adorable! The punch gives you all the little pieces needed to make up the owl - even the cute little heart. The punch is the new punch design which is a lot more streamlined and takes up a lot less room to store. I also find the new punch design easier to actually punch.  There are many uses for the little owl...the most obvious being on cards. I've also used it as a topper for my giant paperclip bookmarks. Other ideas are for magnets, gift tags, to decorate book covers and the list goes on!

Layouts & an Exciting Week Ahead

I hope you are all enjoying the school holidays. I am loving having the kids home and spending some time with them!  We have been busy with all their various social activities!

I did manage to find time to have a scrapbooking night last night with some friends which was fun. I finished a couple of layouts so thought I'd share them with you.

This first one is all about a family day out with our puppy. I love blue...it is totally my go to colour, so you will notice that a lot of my layouts use blue in many different shades! I love the blue in this and matched with the sand colour and Java it works really well with the photos.

This one tells the story of the Rainbow Lorikeets that often visit us. I love the flowery patterned paper - it is an American Crafts paper.  I am also loving using my scallop edge punch in my scrapbooking layouts.

I don't very often do layouts about my husband and I, its usually all about the kids. So it was nice to do this for a change. I absolutely adore the patterned paper I have used here...it is another American Crafts paper.

That is it for layouts, however, I have a big week planned on the blog. I am doing my Top 10 favourite products from the New Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalogue. There are so many wonderful products, so I wanted to highlight a few of my favourites and show you samples of what can be done with them. I've had a busy few days making lots of cards, layouts and other bits and pieces with the products and I am now ready to go. So come back tomorrow and I will be starting with the first product. I also have a few gifts for everyone that leaves comments during the week of favourites. An award for me!!!

I got my very first blog award today from the very talented Amanda. I've never received a blog award before so I was very excited! Thanks heaps Amanda! Plus it is very cute too...

For this award I need to share 3 things about myself and then pass it onto 5 other blogs…

1. I am an absolute chocoholic! I can't get enough chocolate and I eat way, way too much. I am totally addicted but I totally love it!!

2. I love dipping my Mcdonalds fries into my Mcdonalds sundae!!! I know it sounds absolutely terrible, but it is really good!

3. I am a home body...I love sitting at home just hanging out with my family or scrapbooking/card making. I could stay at home for days on end and it would not bother me.
